Abstract: 

Formative feedback has great potential for teaching and learning in online undergraduate programmes. There is a large number of courses where the main source of feedback is provided by the instructor. This is particularly seen in subjects whe re assessments are designed based on specific activities which are the same for all students, and where the assessment is performed by the instructor, not by a peer. Additionally, in introductory or basically procedural courses, there is often a need for instructor feedback, as opposed to peer‑feedback, as it demands high quality feedback both in the content and in the process in order not to mislead students. Therefore personalized feedback provided by instructor is an academic demand in the current educ ational models that have positioned the student at the center of the learning process. However in the present context of high student‑staff ratio, it is not easy to extend the use of individual comments delivered by instructors among the academic community.

Escuela de Verano doctoral en la UPC: Seminarios de Investigación en Ciencias Sociales con Software libre R

Este mes de julio, bajo la coordinación del Dr. Vicenc Fernandez, organizamos dos seminarios de investigación en ciencias sociales con software libre R.

El objetivo de la escuela de verano doctoral es introducir a doctorandos y a investigadores al análisis de datos cuantitativos y cualitativos a través del programario informático R. La cantidad de recursos disponibles en R ofrece a investigadores y académicos la posibilidad de desarrollar cualquier tipo de análisis de datos. Además, R es un software libre (sin coste económico) que funciona en Windows, Mac OSX y Linux.

La escuela de verano tiene dos intensificaciones:

  • Introducción y herramientas para el análisis de datos con R
  • Herramientas avanzadas para el análisis de datos con R

Abstract

Purpose: This paper uses macro-level theories based on the equilibrium between the exploration and exploitation of resources in an organisation to examine the association between turnover and performance through the analysis of a professional football (soccer) team in the Premier League, namely Manchester United Football Club.


Design/methodology/approach: This study compiles historical data for 24 seasons of the Premier League between 1984-1985 and 2008-2009. Using these data, we define measures of performance and player turnover.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between a challenging dimension of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) and self-regulatory focus in an academic work setting. Job performance indicators were included to assess the nomological validity of regulatory focus measures.

Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected using a questionnaire conducted with 251 Spanish academic workers. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling.
